Middle: Someone gets... AMNESIA!
End: Fry decides to return to the way things were

This is really, really beautiful, Chris - you nail down the emotional cores of characters so well. Another wonderful combination of emotions on display here - the darkness is properly leavened with humor. Excellent stuff.

Extremely impressive. As usual, your writing and characterisation shines here, particuarly your descriptions and Fry's emotions. But I have to give extra special kudos to...

...your brilliant execution of shifting between Fry's alternate universe thoughts. You did it so effortlessly and perfectly, avoiding any chances that a reader might get confused, and looking at the story as a whole it musn't have been an easy thing to do (if it was, I have to applaud you even more!)
Overall, a fantastic read. I can see why you took the top award
