Competition Discussion and Questions thread.

Postby Archonix » Tue Nov 04, 2008 10:08 pm

For posting questons and discussions of the competition. Like that wasn't obvious!  ;D
In the world it is called Tolerance, but in hell it is called Despair, the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, and remains alive because there is nothing for which it will die.

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

So it's Futurama and/or Simpsons this time around?  Awesome!

Say, what about Venture Bros.?
If my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
And if I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool
And if I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
And if I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

You say no scripts.
what exactly do you mean my script?
like no stories that look like this:

Fry: blahblahblah

Leela: blahblahblah
Kill the wizard, kill the slut, kick the robot's shiny butt.

Like that, yes. We're after prose, like a regular novel or short story. Just so everything's on an equal footing.

Terry, go read it again. :P

Archonix, I sent you a PM question, but I suppose it'd be good to have it for the public record: Are competitors allowed to use beta-readers?

EDIT: Just to let everyone else know, it is indeed okay to use beta-readers. Whether or not you ask another competitor, is, of course, up to you. :p

I'm so sure of winning, I spend time asking people to rate the assassins out of Venture Brothers.
I struggled to my feet,
I rode past destruction in the ditches,
With the stitches still mending
'Neath a heart-shaped tattoo.
Renegade priests
And treacherous young witches
Were handing out the flowers
That I'd given to you.

Ohhh, she's gonna win...
<Blomman> who was it that got married here?
<Alexander> Oh, that was a drunken night in Vegas I'd rather forget...
<Alexander> I mean... Graham and Chris.
<Blomman> really?
<Alexander> Yes.
<Blomman> not that i'm against that kind of thing, but isn't that like, uh, illegal in some states?
<Alexander> I could explain, but I don't want to. :D
------------------------------------------------------
* Alexander is trying to avoid becoming one-dimensional.
<Alexander> I've just had a terrible, frightening thought.
<Alexander> I've been fleshing out Mara's character, right? Giving her depth? In the meantime, what's happening to *me*?
<gkscotty> obviously she's siphoning off your "reality"
<Alexander> Dear God.
<Graham> She's a vampire!
<Graham> A lesbian vampire!
<gkscotty> pretty soon, it'll be Mara writing stories about Alex falling in love with Lisa.

I'm so confident I'm going to lose, I've even said so in my entry thread!  But that's just a personal Jan Brady moment  ;D

I'd like to enter this contest with a Futurama fic. I still have 13 days, right?
