Another bug, and it isn't pretty. It seems that uploaded RTF files with angle brackets - i.e. these < > - in the text are getting slightly screwed up. I realise these brackets are often used to portray 'foreign' or 'alien' language, but the converter I'm using doesn't know that, and has barfed when it finds them surrounding certain letters such as I, B and U, where it treats them as HTML tags and tries to convert them. I'm going to have a look to see if I can fix this at some point, and when I manage to do so I'll run a script to repair any stories that have the problem.

The Scots (originally Irish, but by now Scotch) were at this time inhabiting Ireland, having driven the Irish (Picts) out of Scotland; while the Picts (originally Scots) were now Irish (living in brackets) and vice versa. It is essential to keep these distinctions clearly in mind (and verce visa).

In the world it is called Tolerance, but in hell it is called Despair, the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, and remains alive because there is nothing for which it will die.
Dorothy L Sayers

The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody had decided not to see.
