Happiness is a squishy cephalopod.

« on: June 21, 2006, 12:46:32 am »

Three things!

First, the artwork 'round these parts is amazing and constantly getting better. I haven't seen half of it yet but I have to quickly mention stuff by Omar, Morpheus, Orange Box (some of the most beautiful colouring anywhere) and Marco (brilliant as ever). Hope that'll do until I can have a proper look around.  Roll Eyes

Second, I haven't had a proper look around because -- well, I'd like to be able to say that something very important and/or interesting happened to keep me away from the site, but it didn't. Long story short, I'm a lazy awkward git. Sorry.

Third, newish picture. I unearthed a sketch a while ago of young Patty and Selma at the park, keeping an eye on Margie and not smoking. Problem is, it's an ancient sketch and I'm severely out of practice. Any constructive criticism would be very welcome, particularly on the characters and composition (okay, there's not much else in the clip....) I've traced in the characters and roughly where the objects should go, and I shall now embarrass myself by forgetting how to post an image. Thanks for reading.

So much detail, so little time... Shocked I love the detail in your work! But, I'm pretty sure P&S started smoking a little later. [See "Threee Men And A Comic Book" Season 2, Episode 21. Sorry to correct you, but I just wanted to say that.

Find Me, A poem by Chris Dominowski.

If I am lost, and you do not care, will the search ever be fair?
Why am I here? What should I do?
The answer to this, I once knew.
Why should I be found if I always must hide?
I have tried so hard, my soul has died.
Over the years, In fear I have drowned. It is finally clear; I cannot be found.

Human, a poem by Chris dominowski

I wear sunglasses at night, but I carry a flashlight.
I turn from the flame, but stare at the ashes.
I walk into the woods, and never touch the trail.
I always look at my calander, but do not care what day it is.
I am the mixture of light and darkness; I am human.

Its a pleasure to have you back in the group, Beb.  Althought, I didn't meet you when you first sign up, and you weren't here when I was in pampers still.  I had the oportunity (luckily I found your e-mail) of exchanging e-mails and seeing your wonderful dreamy art at SR.

I can see that you havent lost your touch; This pic is wonderful, yet simple.  The idea is just georgeus.  This is also the first pic in all my time as a simpsons fanatic that I've seen The tween sisters in fan art, and smoking.  Grin   I was wondering if you used Illustrator for the inking?

One more thing Beb.  You cannot leave this pic without coloring and make us suffer.  Remember that.... Wink

Welcome back, Beb. We missed you, you know.

As for the picture... original theme, fun to see young Patty and Selma in fanart (they're quite pretty, too), gush gush. Marge is adorable, and the linework is very clear. I see you've remembered Marge's Lisa-like dress. Good detail! Body proportions seem good, too, and I love the way you've done their hair.

I'll leave the nitpicks for those who are better at them. One thing I can point out: Marge's visible eye is very large, almost Leela-sized, and looks a bit asymmetric (pointy at the top).

Well, you're back, and stay back! As far as I can tell, you haven't lost your touch.

EDIT: By the way, if you weren't aware, I'm still Chris. You know, the talkative one.

I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
I'm just a boy who had to sing this song
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
I - DON'T - CARE

We'll carry on
We'll carry on
Though you're dead and gone, believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Your weary widow marches on.

Nice to see you back, Beb, that's a great surprise indeed! Smiley That must be the cutest Patty & Selma we've seen so far, even if they are smoking. Wink I can't really see any major mistakes in your pic; the carousel wheel isn't perfectly round (note the piece on the far left, where it has a "bump"), but apart from that, the characters look very good.

This is a suprise. Greetings Smiley

I do like the picture, its very good. Patty and Selma rarely show they care for their younger sister without mentioning how she's be better off without Homer.

Above all, welcome back!

Thanks, everyone. I missed you, too.
Addictive: thanks for pointing out the age thing. I'd forgotten about that episode but I got hold of some references and it seems that the best thing to do would be to redraw the twosome. (By the way, does anyone know how many years older than Marge they are?)

Here's the redrawing. I tried basing them on the 'Three Men and a Comic Book' versions this time -- as before, any con-crit welcome.  Smiley
