Inspired by a remake of the Jethro Tull song 'Kelpie.'  For those who don't know, a kelpie is essentially a shapeshifting water troll who drags innocents to a watery death.  (yay?)

Note to self: Drawing brambles SUCKS.

P.S., sorry for lurking so much.  Am having issues with my brain.  Sad

Aw, sorry to hear that Mel.  (Good to see you still around, though)

I really like this picture for some reason.  The kelpie (excuse me if I keep thinking of dogs here) has an interesting design, and you really bring out Lisa's feelings in her expression.  Though what's she's doing mystifies me.  Was she picking berries or something?*  I also really like the colouring done here.

Only nitpick I have really is the hands look kinda weird. (Possibly that's why you've had him tuck one away in a pocket. Wink)

So to finish off, again, I like this.

* Something tells me the song explains all.

<Blomman> who was it that got married here?
<Alexander> Oh, that was a drunken night in Vegas I'd rather forget...
<Alexander> I mean... Graham and Chris.
<Blomman> really?
<Alexander> Yes.
<Blomman> not that i'm against that kind of thing, but isn't that like, uh, illegal in some states?
<Alexander> I could explain, but I don't want to. Cheesy

* Alexander is trying to avoid becoming one-dimensional.
<Alexander> I've just had a terrible, frightening thought.
<Alexander> I've been fleshing out Mara's character, right?  Giving her depth?   In the meantime, what's happening to *me*?
<gkscotty> obviously she's siphoning off your "reality"
<Alexander> Dear God.
<Graham> She's a vampire!
<Graham> A lesbian vampire!
<gkscotty> pretty soon, it'll be Mara writing stories about Alex falling in love with Lisa.

Thanks for your compliments!

Lisa's meant to be berrying, as that's how the song goes - a girl is out berrying, and falls prey to the kelpie.

And I'm still kinda working on hands.  :S  Oh, well.

I really should have reviewed this before... Scottish legend goodness! The background is impressive (first time I've seen crayon colouring that looks positively *good*), as are the brambles in the foreground. Lisa is on-model, though there seems to be something slightly off about her head, perhaps it's too big. Her expression is excellent. The kelpie himself impresses me, looking both sleazy and handsome in a nerdy kind of way.

Some downsides: hands are hard to draw. (And probably at least one major reason that I'm not an artist.) Lisa's feet and shoes look like they need some work as well, and her pearls are a bit sloppy. I'm down to nitpicking now.

Good to know you're still in the biz, Mel!

This picture definitely tells a story. Perhaps you should write it, too...

I'm so into you
But I'm way too smart for you
Even my henchmen think I'm crazy
I'm not surprised that you agree.
If you could find some way to be
A little bit less afraid of me
You'd see, the voices that control me
From inside my head say I shouldn't kill you yet.
