Oh yea gods.

No, sorry; it's really well done and all (there's some nice lines on the shins/knees in aprticular, I can neevr get that curve without looking like I'm drawing someone with rickets), and knowling nothing about corel painter it looks nice and smooth for a first completed go. I just think it's that costume and rollerskates, combined with the fact it's girl!fry, breaks my brain a little.  Wink

Very nice indeed! I agree about the legs (nicely realistic), and the rollerskates are just amazing. I'm also partial to the chainlink belt. Oh whatever, it's all impressive!

Playing with corel painter a bit more to see what various things are like. The pencils feel surprisingly real. You can sort of see them in the background of this thing.

Yes, fanservicey. Don't care!

Also ignore the ugly feet and the other mistakes.

You're doing outlines in Painter now? You have much to teach us.

Couple of nitpicks: Leela's left hand is a bit pointy-fingered, and she's looking a bit too slim in general. Also, the lines themselves are wobbly here and there, but I don't have any advice in that department so I'll shut up.

Wobbly lines is just a case of needing practice and needing the clean the wacom a little bit. In fact, I think I'll start saving up for a cintiq...

Not art, but a while back someone was asking about "sailor philippa". I'm pretty sure it was a joke.

But.

The internet has a habit of making jokes painfully ironic. My entire browsing experience today has been reminding me of that particular little thing, culminating with the attached image. Ye gods. This is the first time I've had an advertisement telling me what to do...

When I was in college I was wondering whether or not to continue my art course, and just then passed a decorators' van with the words 'NEVER PAINT AGAIN' on the side.

Draw Philippa as Captain Ahab! That still counts, right?

Split your lungs with blood and thunder
When you see the white whale
Break your backs and crack your oars men
If you wish to prevail

This ivory leg is what propels me
Harpoons thrust in the sky
Aim directly for his crooked brow
And look him straight in the eye

White whale - holy grail

In other words, yes!

This is what I fanboy...

Explaination: The shape of a skull is pretty obviously going to affect how a face looks. If you've got one big huge eye it's going to seriously squish the rest if your features around, especially the nose, which gets very squashed underneath it. I reckoned this squashing would result in a widening of the nasal passages to make up for the lack of height, but it's also reduce the length a great deal, meaning you'd end up with a very broad, flat nose underneath that huge eye.

The profile view is actually too far in that direction. Also her eye is protruding just a leetle bit too much... from the side, though, she looks flat. From the front Chris reckons she actually looks quite nice.

Anyway there's a fairly good approximation of what a cyclops would actually look like in real life.

This certainly gets a 10/10 for originality. And yes, I like the frontal view. It's fun to see what a realistic Cyclops would actually look like.
