I'm not sure how it works though so I've proberbly done something wrong
I managed to log in to it I think but everytime I go on to it no one is on.
It says my nickname is dr. nick but I changed it to Black_raven, does this effect it in someway?
Sorry, I just have no knowledge about that java thingy

Maybe you were just in at the wrong time. Normally, chat nights are Friday, Saturday and Sunday and start at 7PM Greenwich Meridian Time and continue, technically, as long as the chatters are still standing upright (usually around midnight). Of course, now around Christmas, there might not be many people in chat.

dr_nick is just the default nickname setting. Changing it shouldn't create any problems.
