18: N/A (only saw the THoH, and it was awful)

One of these days, we're gonna come over there, strap you down, and make you watch "Springfield Up." It is joy.

@Chris - it's definately a choice-via-comparison situation.  I did, however, forget that Trilogy of Error was from that season!   D'oh!

I dunno... I'm not going to completely discount it, but I recall people saying the same thing about "The Seemingly Neverending Story" as well, which after I was convinced to download I found to be "meh" at best. Who knows, maybe one day I will catch "Springfield Up" and be pleasantly surprised. I doubt it though. Jean's episodes just have this... I dunno... feel to them that just feels so off to me. Even his best episodes haven't been able to totally shake it.

I must admit, I wasn't overly impressed with "Springfield Up". It did stand out among modern episodes, but back in, say, Season 7 it would have been middling at best. It was a nice idea and funny, but it had a few too many off notes. They spent several minutes on the Crazy F***ing Cat Lady (whose name I can't type without using an expletive, sorry), and then truncated the ending. And said ending was more of the "Homer is sad because he's not successful, but then he finds out that everyone likes him" cliché. Also, the emphasis on Homer's wish to be RICH and HAVE LOTS OF MONEY felt a bit out of character to me.

I personally liked "The Seemingly Neverending Story" a lot more. It had bad bits too, but the set-up (like that of "Trilogy of Error") was a wonder of originality.

Actually, I do have to give "The Seemingly Neverending Story" props for originality as far as the concept goes. My basic feelings towards it are "great concept, poor execution" really, which is a similar feeling I have towards "Behind the Laughter" too.
