Some of the first information about the next Futurama DVD movie has been revealed.

From http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Futurama-Beast-With-A-Billion-Backs/9081

This past November we all celebrated the return of Futurama with the new direct-to-DVD feature Bender's Big Score. It was the first of 4 such productions that we've been told are coming. They also plan to take each of these four features, break them into four parts, and air those sixteen parts as "Season 5" of the series on Comedy Central later on! But we get to enjoy them first on DVD.

When Futurama - Bender's Big Score came out, Best Buy had one of their exclusive bonus disc promotions with it: a second disc in specially marked boxes which had a couple of animatics for Bender's Big Score, but also a "pencil" (black-and-white outline) preview of the second feature, Futurama - The Beast with a Billion Backs. At the bottom you can see a number of screen captures from that preview, giving you an idea of what to expect. The 3rd feature is going to be called "Bender's Game", and the 4th is titled "Into the Wild Green Yonder". Not much is known yet about either, but George Takei (Star Trek, Heroes) is among the voice cast in Bender's Game, per the IMDB.

However, we've got a lot to tell you about Futurama - The Beast with a Billion Backs, starting with the release date of June 24th! This 90-minute production will cost $24.98 SRP, but can be pre-ordered from DVDEmpire for just $14.99 right this moment.

Update: We've been told by Fox that the description and information sent to retailers regarding this title is 100% incorrect. Because of this we've removed it from the story in an effort to curb the flow of incorrect information regarding this title. We're also told that the bonus material hasn't been finalized, and will change, so please treat the following list as extremely tentative, and extremely likely to be changed (edited by Gord Lacey).

Video will be Anamorphic Widescreen: 1.78:1, and audio is going to be English - Dolby Surround 5.1. Subtitles will be in English, French and Spanish. Retailers have been given access to the following list of extras (which will change):
Commentary Track
Extra Episode from an XBox game
Commentary Track for the XBox game's episode
Animatic for Beast with a Billion Backs
Deleted Scenes / Storyboards
Blooper Reel / Record Sessions
3D Models / 3D Turnarounds - With Audio Description
Celebrity Featurette: David Cross
Bender or Cast Reads Credits
Bender sings his version of the Futurama Song (which consists solely of "Bite My Shiny Metal Ass" or "Bender is Great!")

Seconds of research on the homepage of Futurama Madhouse gave me an image of the cover!

I really like it. Nice old-style horror movie feel.

Oooh, creative and well put-together concept for the cover!  I'm looking forward to seeing it!

Allegedly official Beast with a Billion Backs trailer.

Looks pretty...

Though, did Leela sound a teeny bit off to anyone else?

(Pasting my post from TLZ because I'm lazy like that.)

Not only that, but some of the animation seems to be a bit wacky as well (though, this might be because of the lower-quality of the trailer, but it doesn't seem like it).

It will probably look better in the actual film, but the scene with Fry and Leela standing on the cloud (?) just looked bad.

Oh, and never thought I'd see wheelchair-Bender again.  Hopefully this movie isn't crammed with a bunch of references to past episodes like BBS, but with more new stuff.

I assume they will touch up the animation before release.

This looks extremely interesting to me (and Deathball is awesome!). I really hope they won't overplay the sex/gross-out card, though. Futurama's always had its share of sex jokes and bad taste jokes, so it's not the presence of those that I'd object to, just the absence of everything else, and "Bender's Big Score" was rather too unsubtle and keen on butt shots, in my view.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, in an open letter to the team behind Futurama: team, just because you're on Comedy Central, don't take that as a cue to transform your show into South Park. If we want that, we'll just watch South Park instead.

I'm so excited to see this movie!  Boo being out of the country though Sad  I was seeing a lot of negative feedback leading up to the release including people who claimed to have seen leaks, but now I'm seeing mostly positive reviews.  Well here's what I found from readexpress.com's review...

"Beast's" biggest flaw is its length. While the first hour is engaging and entertaining, the final half hour drags. But this one also leaves a much easier place for the next film to pick up — and it doesn't end nearly as open-ended as "Big Score" did.

Do you guys agree?  I'm trying to get people's feedback on the movie without catching any spoilers, so I'm rather afraid to read some posts haha.

Hopefully I don't get flamed for pasting a link, though this forum seems to allow it.

Thanks to my COMPLETE miscalculation of the time, today I managed to completely miss the entire new episode, shame as I wanted to tape 'the Beast With a Billion Backs' episode an hour 'earlier'. If only I didn't set the tape to 8:30 pm. -_- *Doh!*
Does anyone at Simpworks know how to see this Futurama episode online? I would really appreciate it as I was extremely looking forwards to this episode.
