The title makes me hopeful that they see the absurdity in "covering" the last decade.
Edited for lack of good chronology.

This episode is set, what, two years before "I Married Marge"? That's one hell of a comb-over on top of Homer's head.
Seems to be a couple of years after "The Way We Was" (so to speak), since Marge attending Springfield U is part of the plot. Depends on just how long they dated before Marge got pregnant.

So...just throw cannon out the window, eh? If you do that, it's not even The Simpsons anymore.
On the plus side, I do like the old school Weird Al. But that's about it.

Stuff like this makes me wonder what the show will be like if it's still around in the next decade (which it most likely will).. probably some "Y2K Panic Flashback" episode or something equally stupid, with Bart still in diapers. The Simpsons stopped being "The Simpsons" a long time ago. I understand it's a cartoon but they could have found a creative way to either age the characters (even slightly), or to retcon certain events without completely ignoring the past. And yes, that is quite a comb-over considering it was sometime in the early nineties that Homer got that hair-tonic to regrow his hair (and went back to being bald at the end). Not to mention that Bart, Lisa and Maggie were alive and all the same ages they are now.

I don't see what the fuss is about. Sure it's cannon rape, but hasn't there been much, much worse on and off for the last 9 or 10 seasons? The wacky seasons are going to outnumber the good ones in the very near future, at which point, well, this will be The Simpsons...

I bet, when they started making The Simpsons, they newer thought about the show still being around for 20 years. And they properly didn’t think of those kinds of problems, and didn’t think about getting the mathematics right in the timeline. So, any flashback or future episode poses the risk of some kind of problem. It is at the back of my mind most of the time. But it doesn’t worry me. I like The Simpsons to bee contemporary. But it would have been a totally deferent show if the persons had been grooving up. (Maggie 21 years old today.) Personally I am looking forward to this episode. Because it is a flashback episode, it makes room for some other storylines then normal. And I am quite fond of episodes concerning the relationship between Marge and Homer. (And I have a thing about drawing Marge with her hair down. I am hoping for some interesting scenes.)

And I have a thing about drawing Marge with her hair down. You and me both. You know, it'd be fun if they did a single episode with the characters at the age they are, just to see what they could come up with.

Yeah, I like that.
"Lisa" in "The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase" was probably about the age Lisa would have been at the time if she aged normally...
