Anyone out there use Zone Alarm?
Anyone out there use Windows XP?
How about both at once?

If the answer to all three of those questions is "Yes", then be aware that the latest batch of windows updates will break zonealarm, and render you utterly unable to access the internet. Suggested solutions include:
  • Update with latest version of zonealarm - I have tried this, and it doesn't seem to work...
  • Reduce your zone alarm internet zone security and trusted zone security settings to "medium" - I've tried this and met with some success, though it can only really be a temporary fix.
  • Umm...

Here's to actually testing OS updates on popular software before release!

Hah, well it's not like they had much time to test this emergency patch. The problem's only ten years old...

I just got stung with this today. Restarted the router about ten times before I tried calling BT and they gave me a hint.
