Thought I'd post this here, since I know he's got a lot of fans here thanks to not only his Simpsons work, but The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ratatouille.

from http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117984071.html?categoryId=1050&cs=1

The WGA West's Animation Writers Caucus has awarded its animation writing award for lifetime achievement to writer-director Brad Bird.

Bird will be honored at the WGA West's Honorary Awards Luncheon on April 23 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.

"Brad's work has put him in the pantheon of animation creators for whom the art and craft of animation writing are elegantly (and sometimes literally) drawn together," Verrone said.

Bird wrote and directed "Ratatouille" and "The Incredibles," both of which won Oscars for animated feature. Bird also received Oscar noms for writing "Ratatouille" and "The Incredibles." Neither pic was covered by the WGA, which has limited oversight of feature animated writing.

Bird's TV credits include serving as executive consultant on "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill."

Bird is prepping his next project, the live-action feature film "1906."

Slightly delayed "Go brad!" post.

Interesting insight into how the guilds and things operate, too. I would have thought they'd got themselves a monopoly on all screenplay writing...

The Scots (originally Irish, but by now Scotch) were at this time inhabiting Ireland, having driven the Irish (Picts) out of Scotland; while the Picts (originally Scots) were now Irish (living in brackets) and vice versa. It is essential to keep these distinctions clearly in mind (and verce visa).

In the world it is called Tolerance, but in hell it is called Despair, the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, and remains alive because there is nothing for which it will die.

The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody had decided not to see.
