Oh no they didn't. (That could be the motto of Failblog.)

"Some questions are logically nonsensical because the querent thinks they know more than they do. A lot of these have the form 'How do I use X to accomplish Y?' There's nothing wrong with this, except that sometimes X is a chocolate-covered banana and Y is the integration of European currency systems."

I found about this just today and it blew me away: a TV advert for Luden's cough drops, with sounds and music by Frank Zappa.

The celeste runs and "snork" sounds were later used in several of Zappa's albums, and it's downright amazing how it works so well in that context. He won a Clio Award for his sound editing work.

The voiceover at the end is by Captain Beefheart.
Fernie Canto's Hall of Music has a new address! Visit my site and download my new album, 2:32.

Don Ramón: I could have been a famed singer, a highly famed singer, but there were people who made the impossible to keep me from singing.

I recommend Photobomb, a fairly new blogthingy featuring photos which have been hijacked, like so:

Of all the things I had to do in school that I appreciate not doing any more, I think putting up with people trying to make learning fun has to rank pretty highly. No more making posters about balanced diets, comics about bible stories, or having people try to teach me through song. Oh, wait - email today:

The Rap Guide to Evolution (7 Jul)
**********************************
Tuesday 7th July 2009, 19:30-21:00, Leverhulme Centre for Human Evolutionary
Studies

Canadian actor and rap artist, Baba Brinkman brings his tongue-in-cheek
humour to the Darwin Festival painting intricate rhymes about anything from
Natural Selection, Artificial Selection, Sexual Selection, Group Selection
and Evolutionary Psychology in a clever way that will have the listener
pumped and having an unforgettable, laugh-out-loud, comedy experience.

It's quite possibly something funny and nerdy, but the whole idea of anyone explaining anything through rap is one which brings back so many bad, bad memories, that I couldn't delete this fast enough.

I suddenly understand how the rapping dog from Titanic fits into the natural selection process.

There's nothing natural about that dog.

Oh yeah, meant to say this yesterday - it finally rained yesterday. That made my brain extremely happy indeed. I'm not used to this seasonal warmth  :)

Kefka: the god of this new world. Accept no substitutes.

I would *kill* for those costumes. In fact, I think I might...
