In defence of the "shapes and cylenders" method, I've found that learning to contruct my characters has really helped me draw characters more consistently and with better poses. I don't need to fudge proportion like I used to, and I don't draw group scenes where characters proportions don't match. I couldn't have drawn this just fudging it, or at least not as easily.

Advantages of shapes and cylinders:

-It is much easier to see proportions.
-You won't get that 2D-look anymore.
-If you ever want to shade, this is the best way to see where the light hits, and where the shadows are.
-It makes it much easier to draw the same character over and over.

There are more, but I can't think of any right now.

Disadvantages:

-you have to practice it

Looks like the disadvantages heavily outweigh the advantages...(For those of us who are to lazy for such things, that is)

Relax, take a breather. The year is 2005, the airplane has been flying for 103 years, man still walks on two legs and you're over-reacting a little bit...

You missed the "30" out of 2035.
In the world it is called Tolerance, but in hell it is called Despair, the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, and remains alive because there is nothing for which it will die.
