This is *dead* serious, and probably this is even for writers so if you want feel free to spill you secrets I'm sick of destroying and otherwise ripping up or just ruining with pencil smears all over pics that could be potentially good, just because i get fits of anger when i see things are not turning out like i want to (or otherwise). Once this happened very rarely, now it's just the norm and it's rare that i can bring a sketch not even to completion, but even just after the head. By the way, the more i want to do a picture, the higher is the "sheet in the trashcan" rate. I hope (although i'd be happy to hear it) i'm not the only one here having this kind of problem, but just because i need any advice you can give me. I tried listening to soft music, heavy music, dimmer light, stronger light, drinking beer, drinking tea, going for walks and/or watching movies (but when i get back to it, it still sucks and i just tear it with more sadness than anger). The thing that works best so far to calm down is punching the wall but my middle right knuckle is almost twice the size of the left one by now, and after i do that i can't draw a straight line. So, do any of you have a thing they use/do/think to avoid these "particular" moments? I'm really in need for every advice you guys could give. P.S.: Zen is boring, i'm not gonna try that.

Recently I've been knocking down walls with a hammer. That always helps... Alright, so I've had to do it for other reasons. If I get angry, I tend to stop what I'm doing immediately and go to a different part of the house to calm down. Normally watching some light TV or just staring at the wall helps. A cup of tea is also a good distraction. The repetetive motions required to make it tend to shut down the angry bits of the brain, in my experience. Other times I've gone for long walks. The key is putting the trigger completely out of your mind for a while.

The Scots (originally Irish, but by now Scotch) were at this time inhabiting Ireland, having driven the Irish (Picts) out of Scotland; while the Picts (originally Scots) were now Irish (living in brackets) and vice versa. It is essential to keep these distinctions clearly in mind (and verce visa). 1066 and All That In the world it is called Tolerance, but in hell it is called Despair, the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, and remains alive because there is nothing for which it will die. The Ekko home remedy to the hard hand blues is persistence. Keep at it and all mistakes will be healed. If the problem persists, then I take a breather and kill some time, either by watching TV or playing a video game. Then try your luck the next time around. If that still doesn't work, but you still have hope in your art, leave it for another day. Whenever you find the time to pick up the battle, do it. If it doesn't work out, or worse yet, you bungle it up far worse, then you can either scrap it, or stash it in a time capsule and continue when your skill has improved considerably. The choice is yours, but if it helps, by this time mine are helping keeping my house warm in the winder time...

Eek, honestly, I've never gotten angry enough at my work to get....well, violent.
Frustrated, of course, but I've never felt like ripping it up. Scribbling it out with my pencil, on the other hand...
I guess my best advice would be to just give up, turn the paper over, and just start something new. Maybe in a few days you can go back to it, or maybe even not. Either way, it's better than destroying it completely.

Sorry to hear that, Marco...
My only advise is to leave the pic "as is" if you don't like it, but don't kill it. This is not right. It doesn't deserve to be killed, really. Remember that there are some people who wait for your pics... me, for example. And those people don't need "excellent" ones. I will be happy to see any new pic from you; they are like the air for me, and I don't really care whether they can be called "perfect" or just "nice".
My album is full of really ugly pics, but I don't kill them only because they are not good enough. I respect my creativity, and so should you. Also remember that it's a dead circle. The more your works you will destroy, the higher the bound of the "decent pic" will raise, the harder it will be for you to create.

Hmmmmm, Dagdamor has a point there, never occured to me. And Jon, well, I never knew he was such a mellow guy, that's a great quality to have. Not much more I could add, so I'll kindly step aside to further comment.

Aw, i was hoping for magic words or special happy pills. But ok, i guess you all agree on the stop and go method. Maybe i don't put enough "strength" in it, so i'll have to try harder. Thanks again for the lots of helping, i'll see that they won't go wasted.

OMG! I've never seen a guy bounce so far in my life. Just seeing it makes me cringe. Geeze, it's fun though, great stress reliever! And the specials! Ouch! You think after getting hit by a bike and roundhouse kicked/upper cut by all those people down there would kill you? (Not to mention the katana swipes) So far, my record for distance is 6170.84m and 272m high. (When he became green after a double hit special) But I'm gonna' work on this, it is my quest...Yeah!!! (I apologize for the off-topic rant, but damn!! )

But first you need some donuts. When my writings don't turn out the way I want, I usually feel disgust more than anger. But in my opinion, taking a long walk does help. Or working out in the gym.
